Big Firm Experience
William "Bill" Miranda is a former KPMG LLP tax partner with more than 25 years of "big firm" experience serving public and private companies as well as individuals.
A Baylor grad, Bill began working at Peat, Marwick Mitchell & Co in Dallas, TX in 1984. That lasted until he met Dick Bass in 1985 and went to work as Treasurer / Controller for his family office. After helping the Bass family weather the oil and gas and real estate crash of 1986, Bill returned to Peat Marwick where he advanced to the level of Senior Manager before giving Arthur Andersen a try in their Dallas office. KPMG LLP asked Bill to return to their firm as a direct admit partner in 1997. In 2000, KPMG asked Bill to transfer to Calgary, Alberta Canada to run the cross-border US tax practice for the Calgary office. Returning to Dallas at the end of 2002, Bill led the implementation of Sarbanes-Oxley in Dallas for KPMG and then transfered to the Tulsa, OK office, where he ran the tax practice and served clients such as ONEOK and Citgo. When CITGO announced it was moving its headquarters to Houston, Bill announced that he was starting his own firm.
Bill has significant experience in the oil and gas industry. Bill had the good fortune of working with Bill Russell at KPMG and Ray Jones at Arthur Andersen LLP during his career, both outstanding oil and gas tax practitioners. At KPMG, Bill co-authored and edited a respected textbook on oil and gas taxation and was a frequent writer and speaker on oil and gas industry taxation. Bill continues to provide a federal tax update each year at the North American Petroleum Conference in Dallas and teach courses in oil and gas taxation and partnership taxation for the Professional Development Institute.
But oil and gas is only one of many industries that we serve at William Miranda, CPA. Bill works extensively with partnerships, S corporations, and limited liability companies as well as consolidated groups of corporations, and individuals too. Our clients include health care companies, equipment dealers, service companies, real estate companies, restaurants, internet based retailers and technology businesses.
Small Firm Attention
The idea behind William Miranda, CPA is simple: provide personal attention and quality tax and accounting services to businesses and individuals. Bill wants to be your tax and accounting advisor, learning about your business and how he can help you to succeed and thrive. The Big 4 was great at training smart people to become business advisors but priced them so prohibitively as to make them inaccessible to all but the largest companies.
But wait...there's more
